On July 16, 2018, Northern Metals Recycling (NMR) celebrated the groundbreaking of their new 75- acre site in Becker, Minnesota. This project is planned to bring up to 180 jobs and $40M in capital investment to the City of Becker. In October 2015, after discussions with NMR, Xcel Energy and the City of Becker initiated discussions regarding the potential relocation and expansion of NMR's shredding operations.
